Grenada's E-2 route continues to draw applicants planning US expansion

Grenada is the only Caribbean citizenship by investment program that opens a practical path to the US E-2 Investor Visa, and that distinction carries real consequences for anyone weighing a second passport against future US business plans.

Why Grenada, specifically

The E-2 treaty exists between the United States and a defined list of countries, and Grenada has held treaty status since 1989. A passport from any of the other four Caribbean CBI jurisdictions on this site doesn't carry the same access.

The mechanism is fairly simple. The E-2 visa is available to nationals of a treaty country who are investing substantially in a US business they will actively direct or develop. A Grenadian citizen who meets the E-2 investment and operating criteria can apply directly; a Kittitian, Antiguan, Dominican, or Grenadian-minus-this-program applicant cannot, regardless of investment size, because their nationality doesn't carry treaty status.

Who this actually matters for

This matters most for two groups: founders who want to operate a US business without going through the employment-based visa system, and families who see the E-2 as a longer runway toward a US footprint than a tourist or business visa allows.

The E-2 is renewable indefinitely as long as the underlying business remains active, though it does not itself lead to a green card. It's a route to presence and operation, not permanent residency.

What doesn't change

None of this changes Grenada's own citizenship timeline or investment figures, which sit alongside the other four Caribbean programs on this site. It's a downstream benefit of the passport, not a separate application, so weigh it specifically if US business access is part of why you're considering a second passport at all.
